Energies for more sustainable paper
Local, renewable energy
Nestled at the foot of the Alps, our production site has naturally embraced renewable, local, and responsible energy sources. Over the years, we have continually evolved our facilities to lower our carbon footprint, relying on innovative and sustainable solutions. Today, 70% of our energy mix is derived from renewable sources.

Biomass: at the heart of our green energy
Since 2013, our site has operated a biomass boiler that now supplies 62% of our total energy requirements. This high-performance system runs primarily on locally sourced wood materials—such as sawdust, forest chips, and bark—collected within a 100 km radius.
Biomass enables us to generate 96% of our steam from renewable sources.
It substantially reduces our dependence on fossil fuels, enhances our carbon footprint, and supports the recycling of by-products from the wood industry.

Hydropower: using the river’s power
Located near the Romanche, an Alpine river, Papeteries de Vizille benefits from the continuous power of nature. Two hydroelectric turbines, installed many years ago, currently supply 20% of our electricity needs.
This clean, steady, and local energy is fully integrated into our industrial processes.
A green energy mix
At present, 70% of the energy we consume is renewable, primarily from biomass and hydropower. We are committed to further increasing this share in the years to come.
Each investment and technical improvement is guided by a clear goal: to produce high-quality paper while minimizing our environmental impact at every stage of production.
Our energy strategy reflects our ambition to build a more sustainable, responsible, and locally focused industrial model.
