Protecting our resources
Origins in wood & water
Paper & Nature: a key alliance
At Papeteries de Vizille, our passion for paper begins with the natural world. Producing exceptional paper means looking after the resources that make it possible. Two essential elements lie at the heart of papermaking—wood and water. These precious natural resources are treated with the utmost care and respect every day.

Wood: the very soul of paper
Wood is our primary raw material, and protecting forests is fundamental to our mission. Forests offer far more than just fiber—they are vital to our planet’s health, regulating climate and sustaining biodiversity. By safeguarding forests, we are also protecting the shared atmosphere and the future of our environment.
An ecosystem that needs preserving
Forests are not only sanctuaries for countless plant and animal species—they are also home and a workplace to many people. Recognizing this dual role, we strive to maintain a delicate balance between preserving biodiversity and supporting human livelihoods. That’s why our papers are PEFC™ (10-31-1425) or FSC® (C020652) certified—labels that attest to responsible forest management throughout Europe and across the globe.
Local, sustainable channels
Seventy percent of our wood fiber is sourced from European forests. This proximity isn’t just practical—it reflects our deep commitment to sustainable forestry. We carefully harvest both hardwoods and softwoods in rhythm with nature, ensuring long-term environmental stewardship.

Water: a silent but essential ingredient
Just like wood, water is fundamental to papermaking. Because of its value, we’ve made water conservation one of our top priorities—every drop matters.
Recycling and efficiency
We use a closed-loop system that recovers and reuses the water involved in our production process. By fine-tuning our manufacturing schedule, we minimize water usage and lessen our environmental footprint.
Sustainable treatment
Since 1992, our facilities have used both physico-chemical and biological water treatment systems.
This highly effective combination ensures we return clean water to the environment, preserving the natural ecosystem.
