Security paper is a substrate designed to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of sensitive documents through the integration of physical and/or chemical features intended to prevent tampering, counterfeiting, or unauthorized reproduction.
These features may include watermarks, security fibers (visible or invisible), taggants, and various special chemical reagents.
The use of security paper ensures the authentication of documents with legal, financial, or commercial value, helps combat fraud, and protects brands.
Our security papers are used in highly demanding sectors such as public administration, banking, education, and industry (luxury goods, wines and spirits).
We offer three security levels, which can be combined within the same substrate, making documents extremely difficult to reproduce or falsify:
- Visible security: bespoke watermarks (single-tone, bi-tone, multi-tone) and colored fibers.
- Security revealed under UV light: fibers (hilites or starlites) in various sizes and colors.
- Covert security: taggants, chemical reagents, and features detectable only with dedicated tools.
Each solution is integrated into the body of the paper, ensuring intrinsic and non-reproducible security.
Watermarked security paper is a printing substrate incorporating a design created directly during the paper manufacturing process and visible when held up to the light. There are different types of watermarks depending on their level of complexity (light-and-shade, shaded, multi-level). This process, directly integrated into the pulp, creates a unique imprint that is extremely difficult to replicate. Papeteries de Vizille design custom watermarking rollers based on artwork provided by institutions or companies. We also offer a selection of standard watermarks within our range of security papers.
Our security papers are designed for a wide range of applications:
